  • Incipio Smart Feather shell case

When it comes to protecting my devices, I spend a lot of time trying different cases to find one that protects but doesn’t get in the way. With the first generation iPad, the Apple case met that need but that was before the era of the Smart Cover. Now that I’ve stepped up to the third gen iPad, I wanted to find something that would work in conjunction with the Smart Cover to protect my investment.

  • Microsoft and Nokia pull no punches

AT&T Press Release: The Nokia Lumia 900, the Windows Phone named “Best of CES” for all smartphones, will be available exclusively in the U.S. from AT&T on April 8 for $99.99. That’s a nice price point to hit for a phone of this level. If this phone is successful, perhaps they can lure more developers to strengthen their app selection. Good move by Nokia and Microsoft.

  • The outcome of 'don’t be evil'.

I stopped actively reading Gizmodo in 2010 when they paid someone for a “lost” iPhone 4. Since then, every article I’ve actually enjoyed reading has come from the same author. If Mat Honan is still at this hack-job site in 6 months, I’ll be shocked. His latest piece has been linked almost everywhere and rightfully so. “The Case Against Google” If it can’t keep its promises, if it can’t avoid resorting to trickery, if it can’t keep itself from subverting the power of its search engine for commercial ends, and on top of all that if it can’t even deliver the highest quality search results at a default setting—the most basic thing people have come to expect from Google, the very thing its name has become synonymous with—why should you trust it with your personal data?

  • Android kernel merging into Linux kernel

The new Linux 3.3 changelog. For a long time, code from the Android project has not been merged back to the Linux repositories due to disagreement between developers from both projects. Fortunately, after several years the differences are being ironed out. Various Android subsystems and features have already been merged, and more will follow in the future. This will make things easier for everybody, including the Android mod community, or Linux distributions that want to support Android programs.

  • Another disappointing launch

Apple: “The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. Only 3 Million sold in ~4 days. I bet the other tablet manufacturers wish they could experience this level of failure.

  • In need of a watchdog

An excellent point, why doesn’t Apple have this covered?

  • Samsung delivers

The Verge reports the Samsung Galaxy S II Ice Cream Sandwich update is rolling out to certain European countries. I wonder how long the US carriers will delay it? I’ll admit, the Android lover in me is feeling a tiny twinge of regret for not sticking with the SGSII. I really like the AOSP ICS experience and the SGSII hardware is fantastic. It would be nice if Samsung backed off on the Touchwiz just a bit to let the better parts of Halo shine through.

  • Second time this week

Samsung, doing what they do best. I guess their PR folks don’t talk to each other?

  • This is becoming a thing

Looks like Samsung trolled the Android world this week. Rumors were circulating this week that Samsung had a special announcement at SXSW. I’ll let Android Police share the news. It’s Angry Birds Space. Yes, we’re serious. No GSIII. No 11.6-inch tablet. Just Angry Birds Space on the Galaxy Note (phone). This is actually kind of funny. I’m not laughing at the consumer, instead I’m laughing at how out of touch Samsung’s PR department must be.

  • The 4G deception

The iOS 5.1 update has caused my iPhone to start lying to me. Gasp!
